About Max Comley Racing
Max grew up in Cheltenham and was passionate about racing from an early age. Not from a racing family, Max learnt to ride as a child and began working in racing during school holidays and weekends. As soon as he left school, he went to work full time for Kim Bailey with aspirations of being a point to point jockey. Max rode for 4 years as a point to point jockey but at 6ft5, the struggle with his weight was too intense and he decided to hang up his boots and begin Max Comley Racing.
Max Comley Racing began at a small farm in Rendcomb where Max trained a handful of point to pointers with a good strike rate. The yard quickly outgrew the facilities in Rendcomb and an opportunity came up to move to Naunton where the business grew.
The 2023/24 season was a breakthrough season for the yard, leading the national championship until April and finishing 3rd in the national championship with a healthy 37% strike rate of winners. Max trained winners all over the country, along with winning 4 prestigious classics (Lord Ashton of Hyde in 2023, 2024 and 2025 and 2024 Grimthorpe Cup), he became an established trainer in the point to point ranks.
After 5 seasons successfully training point to pointers, Max took out a full license in November 2024 from a new base at Summerhill Farm.
The yard is a purpose built, state of the art training facility with 30 stables, gallops, lunge pen, indoor and outdoor ménage and fantastic schooling facilities. Max has a brilliant team of staff, all fully dedicated to the care of our horses with the mindset to get the best outcome for each individual horse. Their ongoing aim is to ensure the horses are healthy, happy and fit in order to give them the best possible chance of success on the track.
Max is one of the youngest trainers in the country with a drive to succeed, and why not be part of the journey.
