Monday 10th March 2025

It’s Cheltenham Eve and the excitement is certainly brewing. Lots of anticipation, preview evenings, tips and bold statements… all will be answered over the next 4 days.

I will be attending Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday but we will also be hosting champagne breakfast at the yard on Tuesday and Thursday for anyone who fancies popping in on the way to the races. Please do drop me a message if you are in the area this week and would like to visit the yard. 07972922661.

The yard is an exciting place this week but more so as we hopefully have our first runner at the festival with Au Fleuron in the Hunter Chase on Friday. Exciting times and fantastic to hopefully be involved with a runner at the festival.

A few tips from myself and some familiar faces around the yard:

My tips for each day would be

Tuesday – Lossiemouth / Happygolucky e/w

Wednesday – Jonbon / Late Night Pass e/w

Thursday – Johnny Who / Gowel Road e/w

Friday – Galopin Des Champs / Music Drive e/w

David Bass’ tips for each day

Tuesday – Constitution Hill / The Short Go e/w

Wednesday – Jonbon / My Mate Mozzie e/w

Wednesday – Ballyburn / Final Demand e/w

Thursday – Johnnywho / Teahupoo

Tom Broughton’s tips for each day

Tuesday – Marjborough / Hot Fuss e/w

Wednesday -Ballyburn / Lartenightpass e/w

Thursday – Il Et Francais / Walking On Air e/w

Friday -Kopeck Des Mee / Wendigo e/w

Hopefully between myself, David, Tom, Liam and Harry, we might help you find some winners…

Away from Cheltenham, only 1 runner last week

Head Over Hinds came 4th at Hereford. He ran well for a long way but a loose horse meant he couldn’t get into a rhythm and Tom Broughton did a great job steering him around the chaos in front of him. He looked like he would play a big part in the finish coming to 2 out, but being too keen early on took its toll and he finished 4th. He will improve for a step down in trip and fences.

This week we have a few runners

Pretty Punctual heads to Taunton to run in the novice hurdle. Only her second run over obsticles and she will learn plenty for the experience.

Au Fleuron heads to Cheltenham on Friday in the Foxhunters. As expected, it will be a hot race, but he has cheltenham experiance and i’m sure he will give jockey Aimee Jones a great spin.

Just Her Type heads to Chepstow or Market Rasen on Sunday and will hopefully improve for better ground.

Aureus also runs at Chepstow on Sunday and will also enjoy the better ground… He will learn a lot for the run and should be a much better horse over hurdles next season

Lady Fortune will also either run at Chepstow or Market Rasen on Sunday for The enthusiastic BDR Syndicates crew

And on the point to pointers front, Boss Man Fred holds entries at Cothlestone and Penthurst but would need plenty of rain to consider running and continuing his winning form having won his last 2 races.

Finally it was great to see Louis Gill from The Cotswold Film Company who visited the yard to take some tremendous pictures of the horses working this week along with visiting his horses Pretty Punctual and Boss Man Fred. Below are some of the pictures Louis took.

Enjoy The Cheltenham Festival and good luck!
