Another lovely week… not good for the ground. We desperately need some rain to ease the ground and get the grass growing!
Head Over Hinds was disappointing and will now head off to a lovely non racing home. He was promising at the start of the seasons but broke a blood vessel at Hereford on his last run which has dented his confidence and we will ensure he has the best retirement.
Rockadenn ran well to finish 3rd at Worcester under David Bass for owners SW Racing. He travelled and jumped brilliantly until a bad mistake 3 out which David did very well to recover from. He will have his day in the sun soon.
Land Girls Luck finished 6th and ran well considering she looked to be in top gear the whole way. She stayed on well and Jack Wilmot gave her a lovely ride. She will be stepped up in trip now, but the only downside is Jack was in the stewards room after the race for not knocking her about when she was going as fast as she could. Young jockeys should be praised for looking after horses when they’re trying as hard as they can or have nothing more to give, not penalised… Luckily Jack didn’t get a suspension and LGL came out of the race well.
Goodbyemick ran at stratford on Thursday for The Green Army Syndicate. He travelled and jumped well but stopped quickly. We will run tests to find out why he was disappointing.
A quiet week this week with no runners so we will be busy maintaining the yard for the summer. Moving fences, Strimming and mowing. We have a few horses and staff are already on their summer break and have some new ones ready to run through the summer so exciting times ahead.
We also welcome a new member of staff to the team today. Ethan Dawes has ridden in point to ponts for a couple of seasons and joins the team.
Have a great week,
Max
