A quiet last week with only a few runners…
Aureus ran at Warwick on Thursday under David Bass. He looked a picture but unfortunately he just doesn’t look like he’s interested in being a racehorse so we will now find him a lovely home as a riding horse.
Jullou De Grissay ran at Parham Point To point on Saturday and ran a nice race to finish 3rd with a penalty under James King.
Only 1 runner this week… Au Fleuron at Cheltenham on Friday if our first runner of the 2025/26 season. Aimee Jones will ride.
The end of my first season with a full license. We only got our license through in December so i will call it a half season. We always knew this would be a slow year as plenty of horses came from the point to point field which have needed to find their grade, get handicap marks, but it has been a success and hopefully last season will set us up for the year that is coming.
I hope for the 2025/26 season we can now get the wheels fully rolling, fire in plenty of winners and keep growing the tremendous yard we have. Some exiting plans in the pipe line. We continue to build up a talented team of dedicated staff who work tirelessly behind the senes and we cant thank them enough. Our owners are tremendously supportive and hopefully they all continue to enjoy the journey of MCR, on and off the racecourse. Without them we could not possibly do all of this so thank you to all of them. The jockeys who come in to ride out have been a huge part of this season. David Bass’s experience and dedication to the yard has been incredibly valuable. Liam Harrison is a young talent who rides very well and is very professional. Tom Broughton proves time and time again he is exceptional value for his 5lb claim.
We’re always looking for new horses at all levels, and keeping our eyes open for the next superstar. Equine recruitment is often overlooked but is so important to ensure we have the right horses coming through that suit our way of training. We regularly visit ireland, always viewing sales and have built up some fantastic contacts in the bloodstock industry alway looking for the next superstar. Now we have a yard full of fantastic horses and exciting times ahead.
Now the horses have found their grade and most have handicap marks, next season should be an exciting one and i’m thoroughly looking forward to the future of Max Comley Racing. New owners are always welcome at any level so please do get in touch to be on board for the 2025/26 season.
