Monday 28th September
It has been a good couple of weeks for the yard with winners coming on both the Flat and over hurdles, and plenty more horses waiting in the wings.
Two weeks ago, Snooker McCrew gave us our first Flat winner for the yard at Kempton ridden by Alfie Redman. He made all and won in great style. He put in a really impressive performance from the front and was always doing enough and a lovely ride by Alfie.
Snooker is owned by The Milk Sheiks, and one of his owners, Kelvin Lindsey, promised everyone that he would run up the gallop naked if Snooker won.
We are still waiting, Kelvin…

The following week, it was the turn of One Dimensional, a mare we have always thought an awful lot of. We have been telling everyone to keep an eye out for her, so it was fantastic to see her put it all together on her hurdling debut at Plumpton.
She jumped and travelled strongly and won very comfortably for SW Racing and a lovely hold up ride from David Bass — who, rather appropriately, is actually the inspiration behind her name. We’ll let you do the maths as to why !

Last week Snooker McCrew and Alfie Redman managed to go and do it all again, this time at Beverley.
This time, rather than making the running, Snooker was settled in behind the leaders and travelled strongly before Alfie asked him to quicken. He showed a really good turn of foot to get the job done and make it two wins in two weeks. We don’t want to know what celebration Kelvin has planned for this one…

Then came Saturday, and one of the most impressive performances so far.
Timely Salute lined up in a handicap and, as a three-year-old, produced an extremely impressive performance to get his head in front. Freddie Mitchell rode him beautifully and managed to sit tight when it mattered most, for owner Jeremy Hill.
Timely Salute (also known as Tiny Tim) is the smallest horse on the yard — and quite possibly the smallest horse we have trained — but he has a heart and attitude of a lion.

He was headed after the last, but he wasn’t giving up. He put his ears back and battled all the way to the line to win in a photo finish.

Well done to Aimee Jones who rides Timely Salute every day and gets on very well with him. He can be rather buzzy at home but Aimee absolutely adores him and somehow manages to keep a lid on his exuberance.

There is plenty more to look forward to now. The winter horses are getting closer to being ready, and all we really need is more rain to arrive.
The horses are running well, and there is a real buzz around the yard.
Moving on, French Diablo heads to Newton Abbot today under Aimee Jones in the amateur riders handicap hurdle for The French Diablo Syndicate.
No more runners the rest of the week until we get some rain!
Have a good week,
Max
