Monday 29th September

3 degrees driving in this morning… it feels very cold very quickly and a couple of the horses have started to look a bit hairy! Winter rugs are coming out and it wont be long before the sound of clippers fills the yard, but hopefully we are a few weeks away from that yet.

The last few weeks have been quiet on the runners front:

Jullou De Grissay ran well again when finishing 4th at Newton Abbot. He’s now gone home for a well earned break after winning 3 races for us and never being out of the placings since joining the MCR team last year.

Land Girls Luck ran her usual solid race finishing a fast finishing 2nd and was unlucky to not win

No Guarantee didn’t enjoy the change of tactics and we will go back to the drawing board. He will win a race soon

Leading Lion had his first run for the yard which was a big step in the right direction from his previous form. His jumping was fantastic and he stayed on nicely. He will be in the winners enclosure soon.

And a few entries this week

Lunar Morning looks to make his debut for the yard in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxetter

Goodbye Mick is entered at Fontwell but is unlikely to run

It’s that time of year now where we’re very busy on the yard with all the winter horses back in, the point to pointers will come in very soon and the summer horses will go for a well deserved winter holiday. I love this time of year when theres an exciting atmosphere in the air when the young horses start to do a bit more and the older horses ramp up their work. We start to make plans for the season and the dream is very much alive!

We have a really nice bunch of horses in this year and i’m especially impressed with the 3yo’s we have coming through. They’re all looking rather special at this stage and building up nicely. The older horses have found their level and the tough season last year will hopefully begin to pay off this season. Lots to look forward to and always space for more horses, owners and syndicates! Have a good week
